AFCHS volunteers can provide support and advice on how to manage a feral cat colony. This can include expert advice on trapping, transporting the cats to a local veterinarian, altering, testing for feline diseases, vaccinations, recovery time and release back into a safe area. We can also, on a limited basis (there is usually a waiting list), provide help and assistance on the above. If we have an open country or barn home available, we can provide a new safe area for relocation (again unfortunately, there is usually a waiting list).
Animal Friends Connection Humane Society offers a workshop training class at Petco quarterly (please check our local web calendar of events or call our office for dates and times). This workshop covers feral cat rescue volunteers experiences and advice. We also show a video clip from the Alley Cat Allies organization on how to trap and care for a feral cat colony.
Part of our feral cat program includes the need for safe homes to relocate small colonies (small colonies usually contain one to 4 cats). Quite often feral cats have taken up residence where they are not welcome or not safe. If we cannot convince or educate people to trap, neuter and release the cats back into their original environment, we need other safe areas to relocate the colony.

COUNTRY HOMES ARE DESPERATELY NEEDED FOR FERAL (wild) CATS. BY PROVIDING SAFE SHELTER FOR A SMALL COLONY AND JUST MINIMAL EFFORT THEY CAN PROVIDE EXCELLENT RODENT CONTROL! PLEASE HELP US TO SAVE OUR FERAL CATS!
