Poppy

New

Poppy

Poppy is about a year old pretty Shepherd mix, weighing about 55 pounds. She has had her shots and been spayed and microchipped. She is very sweet and friendly with everyone she has met. She rides quietly and well in the back of the car. She knows "Sit." She is a strong dog and she would benefit from obedience training. Not great with cats. She is a good watch dog but does not bark excessively. She is protective and loyal to her person and wants to please. She likes to fetch a ball and usually brings it back. She is a real sweetheart. She appears to be house broken and she keeps her living areas clean. She is at a boarding facility, which is not an ideal situation for a young dog so if you have can foster her or adopt her please contact us.

Wilson

Adopted

Wilson

Adorable Wilson is 4 and a half months old and weighs nearly 10 pounds. Our vet is guessing a Schnauzer/Poodle mix. Sweet boy is affectionate and loyal. He enjoys tummy rubs and lap snuggles. Not at all skittish or hyper, just a nice, calm, happy energy. He is a smart boy and catches on quickly when redirected. He loves toys, is good with kids and other dogs. He is not yet potty trained, but foster is working on this with him and reports that he is making progress. He walks quite well on a leash. He is not crazy about cats, but he and foster's “grumpy senior kitty” have come to an understanding and are respectful of each other’s space. At first he was shy around men but has quickly gotten over that and now runs to almost any guy. He is easy to bathe and his coat is looking better and better now that he has good quality food and no stress. He would do well with a family with older children or anyone looking for a companion. He rarely leaves foster mom’s side and would love to be your constant companion! He rides well in the car and would love to go on adventures with you! He is just a baby and will need obedience training and a family who is committed to teaching him house manners and how to be a beloved family member. We cannot confirm his breed, and so cannot recommend him for a home looking for a hypoallergenic dog. He has been scheduled to be neutered has been de-wormed, Frontlined and vaccinations have begun. This precious little guy will also be microchipped before going to his forever home.

Pebbles

Adopted

Pebbles

Pebbles is a pretty approximately 3 year old Dachshund with clean white teeth and a coat (fur) similar to some Labs; it is somewhat course and wavy. Pebbles is slightly overweight, weighing in at 23 pounds, but she LOVES to go on walks and rides well in the car. Pebbles was pulled from a city shelter and had been previously microchipped but her owner never returned the call or came to claim her. She is chocolate in color with white under and around her muzzle (not grey but white). Pebbles is house-trained; she is really sweet, loves to give kisses and is so loving and affectionate. She can be protective, not aggressive but will act protective of her person if she doesn't know you. She is active and has an adorable wiggly bottom; she loves people but prefers not to be around a lot of dogs at one time. She does play with the more calm dogs. At the sanctuary there are a lot of dogs and after 15 or 20 minutes or sometimes an hour that is all she can handle. We think she would be fine with one other dog. Pebbles is a lap dog and would be great company watching TV. She enjoys playing with toys and LOVES to play with the hose when the water is running, it is comical, watch out or you will get soaked too. She is current on her vaccinations, has been de-wormed, Frontlined and is spayed. Someone that enjoys walking and sharing their time with Pebbles would be the perfect home for her.

Trudi

Adopted

Trudi

Trudi is a very pretty Schnauzer/Terrier mix approximately 1 and a half years old. She weighs 12.2 pounds, is current on her vaccinations, scheduled to be spayed and has been de-wormed, Frontlined and microchipped. Trudi is very affectionate, loves to be held like a toddler and gives kisses. She enjoys playing with toys and enjoys playing with other dogs, especially the boys. She does try to dominate but is not aggressive. Trudi borders on slight separation anxiety due to living in a car with a homeless person who was with her all the time. She prefers to go outside to potty, walks well on leash and rides well in the car; she also likes cuddle time. Trudi is an adorable talker and will talk to you (not bark, she talks). If you have never had a talker it is precious. Trudi will be a wonderful companion.

Cami

Cami

The gorgeous little Cami is a very sweet approximately 1 to 1 and a half year old, 6 pound female Chihuahua. Possibly mixed with Chinese Crested. With her light tan/white coat and red eyelashes she is a stunning beauty. Cami needs an adult only or older/mature child calm and gentle home. A young retired person/couple would suit Cami just fine. She is a very quiet, calm and mellow natured girl. Her shyness causes her to be a bit slow to warm up but she is receptive immediately. Cami likes both men and women and she is good with other calm dogs. Found as a stray, Cami came covered in tar and motor oil and with some sort of trauma to her neck in the trachea area but thankfully she will heal and the x-rays show there will be no lasting damage. Cami is playful and likes squeaky toys. She has been spayed, vaccinated, de-wormed and microchipped and will be a wonderful companion.

Dominic

Dominic

Adorable 12 pound Dominic is a 1 year old chocolate colored Shih Tzu/Terrier mix, he has beautiful golden eyes. He just loves people and is very affectionate, and would love to be someone’s lap baby where he would be happy to chill and hang out with his person all day. He is an absolute love and a very mellow dog. This sweet boy is very good in the car, just sits politely on the seat, no barking or trying to get in your lap. He has learned how to play with toys, has learned how to use the doggy door and seems to be potty trained. He very seldom barks, is good with other dogs and knows the command "Sit." He will sleep in bed with his foster or in the doggie bed on the floor next to their bed. He just wants to be around his human friends and be loved. Dominic had a very bad yeast infection when he first came to AFC. After about a month of wonderful loving care from his foster mama, his skin has cleared up. He came to us with balls of caked fur in between the pads of his toes and his hair was terribly matted. He is a beautiful boy now, amazing what love and kindness can do for a little guy. He has been de-wormed, vaccinated, Frontlined, microchipped and is scheduled to be neutered and have a hernia repaired.

Princess

Princess

Princess and Cassie are adorable 3 year old Terrier/Chihuahua siblings; their family is unable to care for them any longer. One weighs 12 pounds and the other weighs 15 pounds. The girls are current on their vaccinations and are spayed and microchipped. They are house-trained and are used to using a doggie door. The girls are shy so will need a calmer environment. They both know the commands "Sit," "Stay," "Down" and "Come." They are gentle and affectionate and Princess is more of the lap dog and does warm up sooner than her sister Cassie. They are both well-mannered and are playful. They ride well in the car and walk on leash. The girls are very bonded to each other so would prefer them adopted together. Professional photography compliments of Gluskins on the Miracle Mile in Stockton, CA.

Peekaboo

Peekaboo

Peekaboo is a 6 year old Miniature Pinscher and Dachshund mix. After a year with her foster family, she has really blossomed. She is an affectionate little dog that will come up to someone, sitting at their feet, waiting for them to notice her, to pet her and hopefully pick her up to hold her. When she does get picked up, she'll gently lick a chin, cheek or nose, happy to have the attention that is given to her. She loves to spend time with people she knows, relaxing with them on the couch wherever she can fit herself (on the back of the couch, on a free lap, or at least nestled close). If the couch isn't available, she'll curl up on the nearest dog bed or chair. She does very well with other dogs and will play if they approach her first. She is a food hound and will do anything for a treat. She is mostly quiet, but will bark when someone comes to the door or when the other dogs start to play. She is house-trained, current on vaccinations and microchipped. Professional photography compliments of Gluskins on the Miracle Mile in Stockton, CA.

Ramseyi

Ramsey

Ramsey is such an adorable 3 and a half year old, 12 to 14 pound Dachshund/Min-Pin mix; he is neutered, current on his vaccinations and has been de-wormed and microchipped. He is such a sweet boy and is a playful dog, has a really good personality. He is house-trained and is a housedog. Ramsey used to enjoy being held and cuddled but we think someone dropped him and now he is nervous about being picked up or held. He gets along great with other dogs and should have a canine playmate. He is fine with cats. He rides well in the car, enjoys going bye, bye and absolutely loves going for daily walks (well, he used to love walks but something happened during a brief adoption and he has been afraid ever since). He is a great little dog and will need to be in a home with calm adults; he is nervous when around younger kids. Ramsey is a dog that you will need to visit with a few times before taking him home; he will be a challenge but is so worth it. It’s a great feeling to save a needy shelter dog and turn them into wonderful companions. He really is a great little dog.
