Pookie

Pookie

Precious Pookie is a loveable and very pretty nearly 9 month old mostly Pug mix. This special little girl is blind, caused by people trying to pry her eyes open as a baby before her eyes opened naturally. A veterinary ophthalmologist says she is blind although when it is very light out we think she can see shadows. She doesn't run into walls, seems to know they are there unless she gets disoriented while playing. Pookie weighs 23.2 pounds, is spayed, current on her vaccinations, has been de-wormed, Frontlined and is microchipped. Her fur is so soft she is like a pillow. She has a cute personality, loves water and will play in it, we think it has to do with the feel and sound of water, especially coming out of the hose. Pookie cuddles like a baby when she sleeps. She really loves her cot bed. She loves her toys, likes tug-o-war and plays very well with the dogs that will play with her. She is so affectionate and loving, when she is on play mode she doesn't want to cuddle. She loves to be petted after you cup her chin to say here I am, then she says hi there, I can feel you are here now and how are you. Blind dogs learn where things are and get around as if they were sight-seeing. See some tips here. It is best not to move your furniture around very often or that will throw them off. She has been waiting her whole life for her own forever home and will need a patient, loving, experienced dog person. Pookie will be a wonderful companion, ideally with another friendly and playful canine companion. Photography compliments of Gluskins on the Miracle Mile in Stockton, CA.

She is house-trained and kennel trained. She is not a barker. She is spayed, shots current, and microchipped. Photography compliments of Gluskins on the Miracle Mile in Stockton, CA.

Rufus

Rufus

Rufus (aka Roofy) is a darling 4 year old Chihuahua mix; he weighs 14 pounds, is current on his vaccinations and will be neutered and microchipped. His family's health has declined and they are unable to care for Gizmo, Violet or Rufus. He is an inside dog and will ask you to let him go outside to potty. He will "Sit," "Stay" and "Come" when asked to. Rufus is shy, affectionate and well-mannered. Gets along with children and is good with other dogs and cats; he also rides well in the car. Rufus doesn’t get along with large breed male dogs so a home without large dogs is best. Rufus will be a wonderful companion. Rocky

Adopted

Rocky

Rocky is a handsome approximately 1 year old Min-Pin/"mini" Rottweiler mix weighing 20 to 25 pounds. He showed up at someone’s house with wounds all over him and an injured eye. We sent him to a veterinary ophthalmologist to see if we could save the eye. Unfortunately the retina had been detached from the eye, leaving that eye blind. The eye has improved a lot but it may always have a little discoloration. Rocky is a great friendly dog who loves attention, he is slightly nervous around new people but warms up. He sleeps in a kennel. Rocky is shy, gentle and affectionate. He is good with children and rides well in the car. He needs a loving home with TLC and will be a great companion. He is current on his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. Photography compliments of Gluskins on the Miracle Mile in Stockton, CA.

JoJo

JoJo

JoJo is a pretty 1 to 1 and a half year old Shepherd mix; she was rescued from the Stockton shelter. She is spayed, current on her vaccinations and has been microchipped. JoJo is an energetic girl that loves to run and play, she is ALWAYS ready for a walk. She needs some work on the leash, but the foster home is working on it daily; she is very leash friendly. She gets along great with other dogs, she just wants to sniff them out and then run and play like crazy. JoJo is house-trained to a dog door. She loves to chase cats; she has yet to harm my cats but she just scares them to death, so best to have a non-cat home. JoJo just wants to be a best friend to an active family. She seems fine with kids and she loves attention and loves to sit and cuddle like a baby. She loves her bones and her chew toys, her bed and blanky (that will adopt with her) and a really good belly rub. She has no sign of food aggression towards the family.

JoJo is working hard on not chewing anything but her toys and her bones but like any pup she needs reminders. She is great in the car, knows a few commands and they are working daily to teach her as much as they can. She has a bit of separation anxiety (she will chew and try to get out of the yard). They are working on crate-training when they have to leave her alone. JoJo has been great as a watch dog; she barks for a purpose, not just because the dogs next door are barking or because the fire trucks are out but because she actually hears or sees something. She will be an awesome companion. Photography compliments of Gluskins on the Miracle Mile in Stockton, CA.

Nelson

Nelson

Nelson is an adorable little JRT mix; he is approximately 3 years old. He has been neutered, is current on all vaccinations and has been microchipped. Nelson is a good-natured, lovable 10 to 12 pound little guy, he gets along very well with other dogs. His main goal at his foster home is outsmarting his foster mom with his determination to sleep on her bed - foster mom prefers to sleep alone. Nelson enjoys eating; if you have other dogs and they leave any food he will finish it for them. Nelson would be a great dog for an active home wanting to get involved in doggie sports. He is smart and would learn what you wanted quickly although he does have a mind of his own. He will sleep in a dog bed if he can't find an armchair or - still better - a lap. Nelson is potty trained to a doggy door. He is a good watch dog and will bark if he hears noises and alert you to comings and goings. He is a little shy of new people, but soon has become your new best friend. He is a loving, loyal little guy and will be a wonderful little companion.

Reese

Reese is a 13 week old JRT/Chi mix; his mother is a Jack Russell Terrier and dad is an apple-head Chihuahua. Reese is current on his vaccinations and is de-wormed, Frontlined and microchipped; he will also be neutered. He is outside during the day and sleeps inside in a crate at night. He would love a home where he will be a house dog with outside play and potty privileges and that is a requirement. Reese is gentle and affectionate, lovable and playful, he is also a sweet puppy. He is has only been around teenagers, other dogs and cats. Reese rode well in the car and will be a good little companion. Photography compliments of Gluskins on the Miracle Mile in Stockton, CA.

He is currently kept outside in the garage but would love an indoor home. He will need potty training. This little guy has the little man syndrome and is bossy with larger dogs. He is sweet, loving, gentle and affectionate. He is also protective and slightly shy. Jackson is playful and is a lap dog. Jackson will be a wonderful companion with the proper training. Ramseyi

Ramsey

Ramsey is such an adorable 3 and a half year old, 12 to 14 pound Dachshund/Min-Pin mix; he is neutered, current on his vaccinations and has been de-wormed and microchipped. He is such a sweet boy and is a playful dog, has a really good personality. He is house-trained and is a housedog. Ramsey used to enjoy being held and cuddled but we think someone dropped him and now he is nervous about being picked up or held. He gets along great with other dogs and should have a canine playmate. He is fine with cats. He rides well in the car, enjoys going bye, bye and absolutely loves going for daily walks (well, he used to love walks but something happened during a brief adoption and he has been afraid ever since). He is a great little dog and will need to be in a home with calm adults; he is nervous when around younger kids. Ramsey is a dog that you will need to visit with a few times before taking him home; he will be a challenge but is so worth it. It’s a great feeling to save a needy shelter dog and turn them into wonderful companions. He really is a great little dog.
