Rocky

Rocky

Rocky is a handsome approximately 1 year old, "mini" Rottweiler mix weighing 20 to 25 pounds. He showed up at someone’s house with recent wounds all over him and his eye was oozing. We sent him to a veterinary ophthalmologist to see if we could save the eye but he is blind in that eye. The retina had been detached; it will always be discolored. As it heals it has becomes less discolored. Rocky loves attention, he is nervous around new people but warms up. He sleeps in a kennel. Rocky is shy, gentle, affectionate. He is good with children and rides well in the car. He needs TLC and a loving home and will be a great companion. He is current on his vaccinations and will be neutered and microchipped. JoJo

New

JoJo

JoJo is a pretty 1 to 1 and a half year old Shepherd mix; she was rescued from the Stockton shelter. She is spayed, current on her vaccinations and has been microchipped. JoJo is an energetic girl that loves to run and play, she is ALWAYS ready for a walk. She needs some work on the leash, but the foster home is working on it daily; she is very leash friendly. She gets along great with other dogs, she just wants to sniff them out and then run and play like crazy. JoJo is house-trained to a dog door. She loves to chase cats; she has yet to harm my cats but she just scares them to death, so best to have a non-cat home. JoJo just wants to be a best friend to an active family. She seems fine with kids and she loves attention and loves to sit and cuddle like a baby. She loves her bones and her chew toys, her bed and blanky (that will adopt with her) and a really good belly rub. She has no sign of food aggression towards Hero or the family.

JoJo is working hard on not chewing anything but her toys and her bones but like any pup she needs reminders. She is great in the car, knows a few commands and they are working daily to teach her as much as they can. She has a bit of separation anxiety (she will chew and try to get out of the yard). They are working on crate-training when they have to leave her alone. JoJo has been great as a watch dog; she barks for a purpose, not just because the dogs next door are barking or because the fire trucks are out but because she actually hears or sees something. She will be an awesome companion. Photography compliments of Gluskins on the Miracle Mile in Stockton, CA.

Hero

New

Hero

Hero has recovered fully from his injuries when he was mauled in an attack at a park. The veterinarian estimates that he is between 2 to 3 years old, and he weighs 65 pounds. An AFC volunteer witnessed the attack and was able to rescue Hero and get him in for emergency medical care. Hero is a sweet, sweet boy, he just wanted to make new friends and did not try to defend himself at all. He is great with other dogs, including JoJo, cats and is potty trained and is a great house dog. He is very well mannered and listens to his foster mama; he is very grateful for his rescue and very eager to please. He loves to be near his person, current on his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. He is afraid of men and the vet believes he was injured or mauled prior to the attack at the park. He needs a home with a backyard to run and play in and a canine friend to play with. Foster mom is trying to help him learn that not all men are going to hurt him. He is a great companion. Photography compliments of Gluskins on the Miracle Mile in Stockton, CA.

Nelson

New

Nelson

Nelson is an adorable little JRT mix; he is approximately 3 years old. He has been neutered, is current on all vaccinations and has been microchipped. Nelson is a good-natured, lovable 10 to 12 pound little guy, he gets along very well with other dogs. His main goal at his foster home is outsmarting his foster mom with his determination to sleep on her bed - foster mom prefers to sleep alone. Nelson enjoys eating; if you have other dogs and they leave any food he will finish it for them. Nelson would be a great dog for an active home wanting to get involved in doggie sports. He is smart and would learn what you wanted quickly although he does have a mind of his own. He will sleep in a dog bed if he can't find an armchair or - still better - a lap. Nelson is potty trained to a doggy door. He is a good watch dog and will bark if he hears noises and alert you to comings and goings. He is a little shy of new people, but soon has become your new best friend. He is a loving, loyal little guy and will be a wonderful little companion.

Pukii

Puki

Puki is an adorable and pretty approximately 12 week old Pug/Boxer/Cattle Dog mix; this precious little girl (who we were told was Chihuahua mixed with Pug) is blind caused by people trying to pry her eyes open as baby, before her eyes opened naturally. A veterinary ophthalmologist says she is blind but her foster mom thinks she can see shadows. She doesn't run into walls and seems to know they are there. Puki is current on her vaccinations, has been de-wormed and Frontlined. She will be spayed and microchipped before going to a family. Puki has a cute personality; she likes water and will flip the water bowl to play in the water, foster mom says it is too cute. Puki cuddles like a baby when she sleeps. She loves her toys, likes tug-o-war and plays very well with the other dogs. She is a bit of a rough player but not to the point of anyone getting hurt. She is so affectionate and loving. When she is on play mode she doesn't want to cuddle. We think she will be a medium sized dog. She will need a patient, loving, experienced dog person home and will be a wonderful companion. Photography compliments of Gluskins on the Miracle Mile in Stockton, CA.

Ramsey

Ramsey is such an adorable 3 and a half year old, 12 to 14 pound Dachshund/Min-Pin mix; he is neutered, current on his vaccinations and has been de-wormed and microchipped. He is such a sweet boy and is a playful dog, has a really good personality. He is house-trained and is a housedog. Ramsey used to enjoy being held and cuddled but we think someone dropped him and now he is nervous about being picked up or held. He gets along great with other dogs and should have a canine playmate. He is fine with cats. He rides well in the car, enjoys going bye, bye and absolutely loves going for daily walks (well, he used to love walks but something happened during a brief adoption and he has been afraid ever since). He is a great little dog and will need to be in a home with calm adults; he is nervous when around younger kids. Ramsey is a dog that you will need to visit with a few times before taking him home; he will be a challenge but is so worth it. It’s a great feeling to save a needy shelter dog and turn them into wonderful companions. He really is a great little dog.
