Shelby

Shelby is a sweet, loving Shepherd mix approx. two years old. And although she is a petite girl, weighing under 50# don’t let her size fool you. Shelby is a power-packed dynamo wrapped up in a little package! Alert and full of spunk, Shelby would make a wonderful, loyal, loving companion for a single person, couple, or family but she requires a calm, assertive person that can and will set rules, boundaries, and limitations. She also needs someone who can and will provide her with Exercise, Discipline, and Affection (in this order) on a daily basis. Shelby would not do well with a passive person or someone who only wants to shower her with affection. Shelby loves to go for walks and is learning to walk nicely on a leash. However, she can be very reactive towards other dogs but is learning that this is not appropriate or acceptable behavior. For this reason, Shelby should never be allowed to go to dog parks or be allowed off leash. And although she and her kennel friend, Nandu, liked going on walks together, Shelby would do best in a home as an only dog. However, being an only dog should not limit Shelby from learning socialization etiquette and manners. Obedience training should also be on Shelby’s new owners’ priority list to help with socialization skills. Shelby does well in the house and is house broken. Shelby’s perfect home would be with adults only or a family with older or adult children. She is spayed and is up-to-date on all her shots. She probably won't do well with cats.
